*Why parents are rejecting the idea of online tuition * Many parents still reject online tuition because they associate physical classrooms with better discipline, focus, and accountability. They worry that children get easily distracted at home by phones, TV, or siblings, and that a teacher on a screen cannot monitor body language or ensure the child is actually paying attention. Technical issues like poor internet, frequent disconnections, and lack of proper devices also create a negative experience, making parents feel the class is not reliable. Another major concern is the lack of personal touch and emotional connection; parents believe younger students or those with learning difficulties need face-to-face interaction, instant doubt-solving, and physical activities to understand concepts. They also question the effectiveness of online teaching for subjects that need diagrams, experiments, or hand-holding, like Maths and Biology. Additionally, screen time fatigue and health issues like eye strain make parents hesitant, especially after COVID when children were already overexposed to devices. Lastly, trust is a factor: parents are unsure about the tutor’s credibility, fear hidden costs, or feel they cannot verify whether real learning is happening without being physically present.

*Ionisation Potential vs Electron Affinity* Ionisation potential, also called ionisation energy, is the minimum amount of energy required to remove the most loosely bound electron from a neutral gaseous atom to form a positive ion. This process is always endothermic, meaning energy must be supplied, so the value is always positive. It measures how strongly an atom holds onto its electrons and is an indicator of metallic character. Ionisation potential generally increases across a period from left to right due to increasing nuclear charge, and decreases down a group due to increased atomic size and shielding. In contrast, electron affinity is the amount of energy released when an electron is added to a neutral gaseous atom to form a negative ion. This process is usually exothermic for most elements, especially non-metals, so the values are often negative, indicating energy release. Electron affinity measures an atom’s tendency to accept an additional electron and reflects non-metallic character. It also increases across a period and decreases down a group, with halogens having the highest electron affinities.
