Ask a Question
A positively or negatively charged atom is known as an ion.
There are two types of ion:-
Anion - a negatively charged ion is known as anion for. E.g. fe^-2, ca^.
Cation -a positively charged ion is known as cation for. E.g. ca^+3, fe^+.
In the first case, Fe takes two atoms; therefore, it becomes negatively charged hence is an anion.
In the second case, Fe gives and becomes positively charged hence is a cation.
I hope the answer is helpful to you!
