Soumya

I am a freelance filmmaker and creative writer, and I have been writing since childhood. Over the years, I have explored a variety of writing formats, including short stories, screenplays, articles, essays, poetry, and prose, so I am familiar with different styles, structures, and writing techniques. I also have a podcast focused on film writing, and my poetry has been published in different magazines. Alongside my own writing, I have experience teaching filmmaking to children between the ages of 6 and 11, where storytelling and writing were an important part of the process. Being a filmmaker has also given me a strong understanding of visual storytelling. I do not just think about what words say, but also about how those words can create images, characters, emotions, and scenes in the reader's mind. I think that is a particularly useful skill when teaching children creative writing, because I can help them move from simply putting words on a page to actually building a story and imagining the world within it. So I would say my background combines creative writing, storytelling, filmmaking, and experience working with children, which allows me to approach writing in a very creative and visual way.
