Dr Nekkanti Kumaraswamy

Dr. Kumaraswamy's professional experience totals forty years across teaching, industry, and research and development roles, beginning in 1984 immediately after his undergraduate degree. His career opened in industry: from June 1984 to May 1985 he worked as a Site Engineer with Omega Constructions (Pvt.) Ltd. in Visakhapatnam, gaining hands-on construction experience before moving into academia and research. From June 1985 to August 1988 he served as a Senior Research Officer at A.U. College of Engineering, Visakhapatnam, a period that coincided with the completion of his master's degree. He then joined KSRM College of Engineering, Kadapa, where he built the core of his academic career over eighteen years, progressing steadily through the ranks: Lecturer from September 1988 to July 1993, Associate Professor from August 1993 to September 1998, and Professor from October 1998 to June 2006. During this long tenure at KSRM he also completed his doctorate and took on his first significant administrative responsibility as Head of the Department of Civil Engineering from 2001 to 2002.
In July 2006 he moved into institutional leadership for the first time, becoming Principal of KORM College of Engineering, Kadapa, a position he held for about a year until August 2007. He then took up the principalship of Vaagdevi Institution of Technology and Science, Proddatur, where he served for nine years, from September 2007 to August 2015—the longest single tenure of his career and a period during which he would have overseen a full cycle of institutional development, accreditation, and academic administration. From August 2015 to October 2016 he served as Dean (RRC) at Madanapalli Institution of Technology and Science, Madanapalli, before returning to VVIT, Guntur, where the remainder of his career has unfolded. At VVIT he served as Dean of Academics from November 2016 to November 2021, then as Dean of Administration from December 2021 to February 2026, and most recently as Dean of Planning and Development from March 2026 onward. This progression through Dean of Academics, Dean of Administration, and Dean of Planning and Development within a single institution over roughly a decade reflects both institutional trust and a demonstrated versatility across the full spectrum of university governance functions—academic oversight, day-to-day administration, and long-range institutional planning.
