Let C.P be 100. Total cost = 20 x 100 = 2000 Profit = 25% So S.P = 125 Selling price of x articles = 2000 Hence x = 2000/125 = 16

Soln -1 Let the cost price of the article be 'a' and selling price of the article be 'b'. 20*a = x*b a/b =x/20 ---> equation 1 profit = 25% when we sell the article at price b. This can be used to formulate the equation: (b-a)/a = 25/100 b/a - 1 = 25/100 b/a = 25/100 + 1 b/a = 125/100 a/b=...

The following will be faster, but it doesn't come to everyone that easy. Soln -2 From the description we can figure 20 is 125% of X.. => 20 is 5/4 of x.. => x=4/5*20 =16. sorry 16 assume cp of 1 article is 10 rs, so cp of 20 article ll b 200 rs //since profit is 25%// 25% profit of one article is 12.5 rs (i.e) 25% of 10 rs(cp), so there are sixteen 12.5s in 200. therefore one can sell 16 articles at 25% profit out of 10rs(cp)
