I am working as Professor & Head in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, MGM's College of Engineering and Technology (MGMCET) Panvel Expressway, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai,410209, INDIA. After completing B. Tech in Mechanical Engineering. I did a Masters in Mechanical Engineering (Thermal Power Engineering) from Gulbarga University, Karnataka, INDIA. I was a very active participant in scientific discussions and could always handle trouble-shootings during practical work very efficiently. It is evident by my participation in the international conferences both in India and abroad.

I got the admission for the doctoral program in the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee after qualifying GATE (a national level examination for pursuing Ph.D. & M. Tech in Indian premier institutes) and subsequent interview. I have completed my doctoral thesis under the supervision of Dr. Satya Prakash and Dr. R. Jayaganthan, Professor and Associate Professor, Dept. of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering. Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India. The title of my thesis is “Characterization and hot corrosion studies of detonation-gun Sprayed Coatings”.



I have twenty five publications in reputed international journals. I have presented twelve national and international conferences. I got best research paper award in the CORCON 2007, International Conference on Corrosion, and Organized by NACE International India Section (NIIS) at Hotel Intercontinental The Grand Mumbai during 26th-28th Sept 2007, Paper title: Hot Corrosion behavior of detonation gun sprayed 75Cr3C2-25(80Ni-20Cr) coating in Molten Salt Environment. I have also assisted Bachelor & Master students for their project work on processing & characterization of thermal sprayed coatings and also assisted carrying out FE-SEM/EDAX and Nanostructure coating by DC-magnetron sputtering for the institute users at I.I.T-Roorkee.



My doctoral thesis work comprised of oxidation and hot corrosion studies of Cr3C2-NiCr, NiCrAlY+0.4wt%CeO2 and NiCoCrAlYTa coatings developed by Detonation-gun spray is scarce in the literature. In view of that, in the present study, oxidation and hot corrosion behavior of certain super alloys designated as superni 75, superni 718 and superfer 800H as per the manufacturer’s specifications, has been investigated with and without the application of D-gun sprayed Cr3C2-NiCr, NiCrAlY+0.4 wt% CeO2 and NiCoCrAlYTa coatings in air, Na2SO4-60%V2O5, Na2SO4–25%K2SO4, at 900 oC, and in actual coal fired boiler environment under cyclic conditions at Guru Nanak Dev Thermal Power Plant, Bathinda, Punjab. INDIA. These super alloys are developed by Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited, Hyderabad (India) for the high temperature applications such as boilers and gas turbine parts, heat exchangers and piping in chemical industries, jet engines, pump bodies, high temperature furnace parts and heat treatment jigs. A study on the behavior of aforementioned coatings in different environments will be helpful in choosing the suitable coating and substrate to withstand oxidation and hot corrosion problems manifested in the gas turbine and boiler applications. The outcome of the present research work is critically analyzed and discussed in the light of existing literature to propose an insight into the corrosion mechanism in both coated and bare super alloys.



My teaching philosophy has developed through my 32 year (18 years teaching and 14 years research experience). In my experience, the most successful classes are those in which there is a high level of student participation. I encourage participation of students in classroom lectures. With clear organization of the topic, students clarify their doubts in the classroom. A second technique that I follow is asking questions individually to create a more participatory classroom environment. I am interested in developing new courses, particularly interdisciplinary courses that might focus on a single topic of current interest. I am confident that I can design strategies to handle projects independently as well as write project proposals.
