How to use union in C program & whats the role of this?

For memory efficient usage union is preferred. struct union uni {int a; char b;float c}; it will allocate 4 bytes on 32 bit system.

Union is a data type in C it is just like structure but we use single variable at at time in union but this condition not mandatory for structure . Union save data storage as compared to structure. Union size is equal to max size of a variable used in union.
