It's very easy to learn very basics of the piano without a teacher but at some point it will restrict you to improve. You'll definitely need a teacher to learn it properly. Good luck :)

Yes. You may. If you are able to get a good source of knowledge and know where to look for, you can be a good self taught player. I did so in the beginning too. Later when I learnt from a teacher, I was able to approach my playing from a different angle and became better at it.
