Fees are a very subjective thing, and it varies drastically. The only suggestion I'd give is rather than taking money so seriously give priority to that person's knowledge and experience. That will be the most crucial thing if you're serious about it, saving a few bucks might seem a good idea in the beginning. Still, it might not end the way you want. The second thing is how much time does it take? So if you're very serious and passionate about it and you give a reasonable amount of time to it, it will take you somewhere around 4 to 6 months to be able to play quite a few things amazingly. The more you learn, the more you practice, the better you will get in it.

Interpreting and playing piano music with changing tempos requires careful attention to the composer's intentions, a solid understanding of the musical structure, and the ability to navigate transitions smoothly. Here are some guidelines to help you interpret and play music with changing tempos:

  1. Study the Score:

    • Carefully examine the musical score for tempo markings and any indications of changes in tempo. Look for terms such as "ritardando" (slowing down), "accelerando" (getting faster), or specific metronome markings.
  2. Understand the Context:

    • Consider the overall context of the piece. Changes in tempo often serve a musical purpose, such as emphasizing a new section, building tension, or creating a sense of resolution. Understand how the tempo changes contribute to the expressive and structural elements of the music.
  3. Practice with a Metronome:

    • Use a metronome during practice to develop a sense of timing and precision. Set the metronome to the different tempos indicated in the score and practice the transitions between them.
  4. Feel the Musical Pulse:

    • Develop a strong internal sense of the musical pulse. This will help you maintain a steady tempo and navigate changes smoothly. Pay attention to the underlying beat and subdivision of rhythms.
  5. Practice Transitions:

    • Isolate and practice the specific sections where the tempo changes occur. Focus on making these transitions seamless and natural. Work on maintaining a sense of continuity as you move from one tempo to another.
  6. Be Aware of Rubato:

    • Understand when to use rubato, which involves a flexible and expressive deviation from strict tempo. While some sections may have precise tempo indications, others may allow for more expressive freedom.
  7. Listen to Recordings:

    • Listen to recordings of the piece by accomplished pianists. Pay attention to how they navigate changes in tempo and capture the musical essence of each section. Use recordings as a source of inspiration and guidance.
  8. Expressive Playing:

    • Connect the changes in tempo with expressive playing. Consider the emotional content of the music and use tempo changes as a tool to convey the intended mood or character.
  9. Use Body Movement:

    • Use subtle body movement to convey changes in tempo. This can include slight changes in body posture, hand gestures, or facial expressions. Physical cues can help communicate the musical pulse to the audience.
  10. Practice with Gradual Changes:

    • If the tempo changes gradually, practice transitioning smoothly over a few measures rather than abruptly. Gradual changes often require a nuanced approach to maintain musical flow.
  11. Dynamic Considerations:

    • Be mindful of dynamic changes in conjunction with tempo changes. The intensity of the music may vary with shifts in tempo, and adjusting your dynamics accordingly enhances the overall expressiveness.
  12. Experiment with Interpretation:

    • While respecting the composer's markings, don't hesitate to experiment with different interpretative choices. Consider how subtle variations in tempo can contribute to your personal interpretation of the piece.
  13. Consult a Teacher:

    • If possible, seek guidance from a piano teacher or mentor. They can provide valuable insights into interpreting tempo changes and offer personalized advice based on the specific challenges of the piece.

Remember that interpreting and playing music with changing tempos requires both technical control and a deep musical understanding. Regular and focused practice, along with a thoughtful approach to expression, will contribute to your ability to convey the nuances of the music effectively.
