When I use nohup to run PHP script that otherwise dumps a lot of output to the terminal, it only gives a very short nohup.out (with bad format). Why?

You may want to run top in another terminal and see what is happening with memory and processor load. Is your process actually creating the load or does your script have a memory leak that eventually eats up the memory to the point that it starts swapping? read less
