What's the difference between mktime and time function on PHP?

The mktime function returns the time in seconds from Unix Epoch to the date and time provided as parameters. The timefunction retuns the time in seconds from Unix Epoch to the moment the function is run. There are no parameters to pass in.

I am working as a senior PHP Developer with more than 8 years of experience. I am familiar with almost all major PHP and CMS and frameworks.
