Phonics focuses on letter sounds that is actually used in words rather than the name of the letter itself. For example, the letter 's' as 'ssss' as in the word 'sat' and not 'ess'. So, therefore, making the child to remember the sound of the letter. They then are taught to blend the sounds and gradually they become excellent readers. read less
