Phonics is a method for teaching someone to read by teaching them the different sounds that are correlated with different symbols or word groups. Phonetics is the study and classification of speech and sounds.

In easy way phonetics is a way where we teach how a sound is produced using the various vocal area, the various position of tongue in our mouth , sometime mouth is wide open some time tongue touching upper teeth some time lower teeth, sometime vibration felt on teeth when we produce sounds ,hence phonetics is a bigger umbrella and phonics come under it , where in phonics we teach sound and a way how do we graph a sound ,and also when do we use a particular graph for the same sound Eg. Sail ( ai) , stay ( ay) , eight ( eigh) , here. All the word have long vowel A sound and different grapheme used to represent as per phonics. read less
