Give them many more sessions suppose if you have planned for vowels sound to be taught in a day at classroom provide them your voice files so that they can listen to it at home . This methodology has been effective in my training sessions and i would recommend you the same. May god bless you.

Give them exposure to sounds in day to day life so that that they will start picking up with words.. for eg: dog barks 'Bow' and then teach them the sound of 'ow' same will apply for cat 'meow'.. Give it a shot

On a personal note, I am against teaching young children sound association with letters. English is not a phonetic language and teaching it so to children confuses them more. It is better to make students aware that the letters of the alphabet have different sounds (c is k, s ch and sh) and that pronunciation is best learnt with listening to the correct sound for each word. As I say, listening is the key to learning any language. read less
