I start with the basics such as correct sitting posture, hand position, finger movement, key identification, and maintaining proper rhythm. I guide students in understanding the Harmonium layout, playing notes smoothly, and developing coordination between both hands. Special attention is given to finger exercises to improve speed, accuracy, and confidence on the keyboard. For beginners, I teach simple melodies and basic songs to make learning enjoyable and practical. Gradually, I introduce swar sadhana, alankars, and scale practice to improve clarity of notes and musical discipline. I also train students to play harmonium with singing, helping them maintain pitch, rhythm, and timing together. My teaching includes raag-based practice, basic taals (like Teentaal, Dadra, Keharwa), and proper use of rhythm patterns while playing. I focus on improving listening skills, understanding sur, and learning to play compositions in a clean and expressive manner. I personalize each lesson based on the student’s age, level, and learning goal. Whether a student wants to learn harmonium for school performances, bhajans, devotional music, or as a hobby, I provide step-by-step guidance and regular practice plans. I also support students with homework, revision sessions, and performance preparation. I begin with the basics such as correct posture, hand position, finger numbering, and understanding the keyboard layout. I help students identify notes (white and black keys), learn proper finger movement, and develop coordination between both hands. Special focus is given to improving finger strength and speed through simple exercises and practice patterns. For beginners, I teach basic scales, simple melodies, and easy songs so that students gain confidence quickly. Gradually, I introduce major and minor scales, chords, chord progressions, and rhythm patterns. I also teach students how to play with proper timing and tempo, along with basic music theory concepts like beats, measures, and notation. My teaching includes training in playing songs with right-hand melody and left-hand chords, as well as using different keyboard tones and styles when needed. I guide students in learning basic accompaniment techniques, smooth chord transitions, and maintaining rhythm while playing.
