Acrylic paint is a highly Pigmented medium that has been used for decades. They are generally water based. But due to it's fast drying nature it becomes water resistant once dry. You can use various mediums including water, gel or paste to dilute heavy body acrylic paint based on your needs.

Can you use fabric paint on polyester fabric?
