In fabric paint, the color powder and binder is of very low quality. The binder used makes the fabric very stiff. If you use acrylic paint on fabric, the fabric where you applied the paint, after drying, turns out to be more soft. Give it a shot!

Acrylic paint and fabric paint serve different purposes, and whether one is "better" than the other depends on the project: Acrylic Paint: Advantages: Versatile and can be used on various surfaces, including fabric. Fast-drying and available in a wide range of colors. Ideal for mixed media projects. Disadvantages: Can be stiff when dried on fabric and may not wash well without a fabric medium. Requires a medium or additional preparation to be flexible on fabric. Fabric Paint: Advantages: Specifically formulated for use on fabric, ensuring flexibility and durability. Designed to withstand washing and wear without fading or cracking. Often available in a variety of finishes (matte, glossy, etc.). Disadvantages: Generally more limited in color range compared to standard acrylic paints. May be more expensive than acrylic paint. Conclusion: For projects specifically involving fabric, fabric paint is generally better because it is designed for that purpose, offering better durability and flexibility. However, acrylic paint can be used on fabric with appropriate preparation and care, particularly for less-washable items or mixed media projects. read less
