It is for engineering students.
At the end of the course, the student will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the use of basic Git repository commands for version control operations.
2. Implement branch management strategies for collaborative software development.
3. Apply collaboration techniques using remote repositories and distributed version control systems.
4. Configure Git tags, releases, and advanced Git operations for effective project management.
5. Modify Git history to maintain repository integrity and support project requirements.
Project Management with Git (1BCSL307A) is a 3rd-semester, 1-credit practical course that introduces students to version control and collaborative software project management. Students learn to create and manage Git repositories, track changes through commits, create and merge branches, and collaborate using remote repositories such as GitHub. The course also covers stashing changes, fetching and rebasing, tags and releases, cherry-picking commits, and analyzing or modifying Git history. Through practical experiments, students develop skills in managing code versions, maintaining repository integrity, and working collaboratively on software projects. Assessment includes laboratory reports, practical examinations, and viva voce.
