A function assigns each element from the domain to a unique element in the codomain. It is commonly represented as f(x) = y, where x is the input and y is the output. Functions can be linear, quadratic, trigonometric, or more complex, and they play a crucial role in modeling real-world phenomena. Concepts like domain, range, injectivity, and surjectivity help analyze and understand functions in various mathematical contexts. Together, sets and functions provide a foundation for many branches of mathematics, including calculus and analysis.
