The Semi-Classical and Light Music Classes offered by Dhriti Chatterjee are designed to help students explore the expressive and भाव-प्रधान (emotion-oriented) forms of Indian music. This course is suitable for students who wish to complement their classical training or learn beautiful, audience-friendly musical forms.
Students are trained in Thumri and Dadra, which focus on expression, lyrical beauty, and subtle ornamentation. These forms help develop emotional connection, voice modulation, and artistic sensitivity. Bhajans are taught to enhance devotional expression and clarity of words, while Ghazals help students learn poetic interpretation, pronunciation, and controlled, nuanced singing.
Basic guidance in Rabindra Sangeet is also provided, enabling students to understand its unique style, melody, and भाव. In addition, students learn selected semi-classical compositions that bridge the gap between classical and light music.
Special emphasis is given to expression, voice texture, and presentation. By the end of the course, students gain versatility, emotional depth, and confidence to perform semi-classical and light music on stage.
