Design, build, and program a working robot from the ground up. This course combines mechanical building, electronics, and programming into one hands-on journey — perfect for makers who've dabbled in Arduino and want to bring their creations to life with movement, sensing, and autonomous behavior.
What you'll learn:
- Robotics fundamentals: chassis, actuators, sensors, control loops
- Motor control (DC motors, motor drivers/H-bridges, servos)
- Power systems for mobile robots (batteries, voltage regulation)
- Sensor integration for navigation (ultrasonic obstacle avoidance, line-following IR sensors)
- Programming behaviors: state machines, conditional logic for autonomous decisions
- Wiring and assembling a mobile robot chassis
- Debugging real-world mechanical/electrical issues (friction, power draw, sensor noise)
- Basic PID concepts for smoother control (intro level)
Final project: an autonomous robot that completes a course-defined challenge (obstacle course, line-following track, or maze)
Who this is for: Students with basic Arduino/programming experience (variables, loops, digitalWrite/analogRead) who want to move from static circuits to a robot that moves and reacts to its environment.
Format: 8 sessions, 90 min each, hands-on build + code every session.
Requirements: Robot chassis kit (motors, wheels, chassis plate), Arduino Uno/Nano, motor driver module, battery pack, basic sensors (ultrasonic + IR line sensors), laptop.
