Composition, Color & Visual Storytelling — Part 2
Composition, Color & Visual Storytelling is a beginner friendly continuation of Drawing Fundamentals designed for students who want to understand how individual elements come together to create a complete and meaningful artwork. The course builds on the skills from Part 1 and introduces composition, colour, movement and storytelling through practical exercises and creative projects.
Topics covered
- Composition and Visual Balance
- Symmetry and Asymmetry
- Focal Points and Visual Hierarchy
- Colour Theory and Colour Relationships
- Warm Cool Colours and Saturation
- Value Depth and Atmosphere
- Gesture and Movement
- Visual Storytelling and Mood
- Creative Composition Projects
Each class combines instructor demonstrations, guided exercises and independent practice. Students will also receive printable worksheets and practice material to continue exploring the concepts after class.
By the end of Part 2, students will understand how to make thoughtful decisions about composition, colour, movement and mood rather than focusing only on drawing objects accurately. They will be able to create artworks that communicate ideas, feelings and visual stories while developing greater creative confidence and artistic awareness.
Students should have basic drawing materials such as drawing paper, pencils, an eraser and a sharpener. Colour materials may be required for specific classes.
Prerequisite: Basic drawing fundamentals are recommended. Part 1 is ideal preparation.
