What is this 'square feet'?

To understand this you should learn about AREA and PERIMETER.

Perimeter and Area are the two main measures of geometric figures.

Perimeter is a measure of distance around a shape.

For example, we measure the perimeter around the garden to make a fence know how much material to buy.

Area is a measure of the amount of surface something covers. For example, if we know how much space a house we wish to build occupies we can calculate how much it would cost to build it.
