Topic: Trigonometry
Class: 10
The class focused on introducing students to the fundamental concepts of Trigonometry, a branch of Mathematics that deals with the relationship between the angles and sides of a right-angled triangle. The session began with a quick recap of the Pythagoras theorem to connect prior knowledge with new learning. Students were then introduced to the six trigonometric ratios – sine, cosine, tangent, cosecant, secant, and cotangent – along with their reciprocal and quotient relationships.
Special emphasis was given to remembering the standard values of trigonometric ratios at 0°, 30°, 45°, 60°, and 90°, using simple memory tricks. Real-life applications, such as finding heights and distances, were discussed to make the topic engaging and relatable. Stepwise problem-solving of NCERT examples was demonstrated, after which students practiced exercise questions independently. The session concluded with a quick test to check understanding, ensuring students were confident with both concepts and their applications.
Students should bring:
Mathematics textbook (NCERT/Board prescribed) – for reference and exercises.
Notebook / rough copy – to note formulas, solved examples, and practice problems.
Geometry box – especially scale, protractor, and compass (for diagrams)
Stationery – pens, pencils, eraser, sharpener, ruler.
