KMC comes under the child heath nursing subject. Caring low birth weight baby is a great challenge. It is a special way of caring LBW infants by skin to skin contact. It promotes their health and wellness by effective thermal control, breastfeeding and bonding. It helps in breathing regulation of the child, prevent against nosocomial infection, helps in weight gain, facilitates mother and infants bondage. The baby should be placed between the mother's breasts in an upright position. The head should be turned to one side and in a slightly upturned position.
