Week 1: Introduction and Number Systems • Day 1: Overview of syllabus, importance of Computer Science, Introduction to number systems and their bases. • Day 2: Positional system, conversions between bases (binary, octal, decimal, hexadecimal). • Day 3: Addition and subtraction in different bases, introduction to complements (1’s and 2’s). ________________________________________ Week 2: Encodings and Propositional Logic • Day 4: Binary encodings for integers and real numbers, Sign-magnitude, and 2’s complement. • Day 5: Floating-point representation, ASCII vs Unicode. • Day 6: Propositional logic, truth tables, and well-formed formulae. ________________________________________ Week 3: Logic Gates and Arithmetic Operations • Day 7: Logical connectives, representation of simple problems as well-formed formulae. • Day 8: Basic gates (AND, NOT, OR), universality of NAND and NOR gates. • Day 9: Half adders and full adders, hardware realization of logical operations. ________________________________________ Week 4: Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) Concepts • Day 10: Introduction to objects, classes, attributes, and behaviors. • Day 11: Real-world examples of objects and classes, virtual machine concepts. • Day 12: JVM, compiling, execution of Java programs, basics of errors (compile-time and runtime). ________________________________________ Week 5: Variables, Data Types, and Statements • Day 13: Primitive values, wrapper classes, type casting. • Day 14: Variables, expressions, arithmetic and logical operations. • Day 15: Conditional statements (if, if-else, switch-case), introduction to loops. ________________________________________ Week 6: Loops and Scope • Day 16: Looping statements (for, while, do-while), continue and break. • Day 17: Grouping statements in blocks, scope, and visibility of variables. • Day 18: Examples and practice on nested blocks and variable visibility. ________________________________________ Week 7: Methods and Constructors • Day 19: Introduction to methods, static methods, and variables. • Day 20: Constructors, multiple constructors, this keyword. • Day 21: Problem-solving using methods (e.g., finding roots of equations). ________________________________________ Week 8: Arrays and Strings • Day 22: Single and multi-dimensional arrays, basic algorithms (searching, max/min). • Day 23: Sorting techniques (bubble, selection, insertion). • Day 24: Strings in Java: operations (concatenation, substring, replacement). ________________________________________ Week 9: File Handling and Input/ Output • Day 25: Basic input/output using Scanner and Printer classes. • Day 26: File handling (binary and text), streams and their operations. • Day 27: Examples of file reading, writing, appending, and searching. ________________________________________ Week 10: Recursion • Day 28: Concept of recursion, base cases. • Day 29: Examples of recursive methods (factorial, GCD). • Day 30: Recursive algorithms for number conversions and binary search. ________________________________________ Week 11: Advanced Java and Packages • Day 31: Implementation of algorithms to solve problems. • Day 32: Packages in Java, creating and importing user-defined packages. • Day 33: Interaction of objects across packages, Java API usage. ________________________________________ Week 12: Trends in Computing and Ethical Issues • Day 34: Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things, VR, AR, and their impact. • Day 35: Cybersecurity, privacy, netiquette, spam, phishing. • Day 36: Intellectual property, software copyright, free and open-source software. ________________________________________ Additionally, 14 days are reserved for multiple mock tests & doubt clearing sessions. *each class or day session duration: 1 hour.
