Class Title: Ionic Equilibrium - pH of Acid and Base
Class Description:
This class will cover the concept of ionic equilibrium and how it relates to the pH of acids and bases. The class will start with an introduction to acid-base chemistry and the concept of pH, including the definition of pH and how it is measured.
We will then dive into the topic of ionic equilibrium, discussing the dissociation of acids and bases in aqueous solutions, and how the concentration of hydronium ions and hydroxide ions in solution affect pH. We will also cover the equilibrium constant (Ka and Kb) and the relationship between pH and the dissociation constant.
The class will then explore different types of acids and bases, including strong acids and bases, weak acids and bases, and amphiprotic species. We will discuss how the strength of an acid or base affects its pH and dissociation constant.
To reinforce learning, the class will include problem-solving exercises and interactive activities to help students better understand the concepts of ionic equilibrium and pH. At the end of the class, students will have a solid understanding of pH, the dissociation of acids and bases, and the equilibrium constant, and will be able to apply these concepts to real-world scenarios.
