In this 16 week course, we would have 32 classes, during which we would cover the basics of 4 Indian Folk Art forms, namely Kalamkari, Madhubani, Pichwai and Warli painting. The intent is to introduce the students to the key patterns, techniques and styles for each of the forms, which can be then further built on in a more advanced course. For each of the folk art forms, we would dedicate around 4 days, and cover 5 core modules mentioned below:
- Drawing patterns, basic Motifs and features
- Bordering and styling
- Core coloring concepts, including color mixes, textures and strokes for each of the folk art forms
- Sketching and coloring of small art-works
- Designing more complex A4 size artworks
