This is an introductory course, where students will be introduced to Hindustani classical music. Starting with fundamental voice trainings, students would be exposed to different semi-classical genres especially Bhajans and devotional songs. Students would be able to get a good idea of swaras and rhythm patterns and underlying ragas in semi-classical music. The would be able to appreciate the meaning of these bhajans, and be able to sing them with confidence and correct expression.
This course is designed be the stepping stone for singers looking to learn Hindustani Classical music. The course will lay the foundation for understanding Hindustani Classical, where the focus would be on training students on techniques to acquire better voice clarity and stability in terms of the notes and pitch. They would learn to confidently sing some of the common note patterns, Alankars and develop an understanding of Taal and some of the rhythm patterns. Students would also be introduced to some common ragas used in Bhajans and devotional music
