The Intermediate Level Vocal Music Classes offered by Dhriti Chatterjee are designed for students who already have a basic foundation in Indian Classical Music and are ready to deepen their knowledge and skills. This course focuses on developing a clearer understanding of raagas, improving voice quality, and introducing the art of improvisation.
Students learn to present raagas in a more structured way, including both vilambit (slow tempo) and drut (fast tempo) compositions. They are trained in basic khayal singing, with emphasis on proper pronunciation, expression, and emotional connection to the music. The course also introduces semi-classical forms such as thumri, dadra, and bhajans, helping students explore different styles and broaden their musical versatility.
Special attention is given to voice culture, breath control, and tonal clarity, which are essential for longer and more refined singing. Students also begin learning simple taans and alap, which help develop creativity and confidence. By the end of this course, students achieve better voice control, improved improvisation skills, and greater confidence for stage performances and advanced training.
