HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER Part III (25 classes) Objective of this Course This Course of Heat and Mass transfer is designed for Mechanical and Chemical Engineering undergraduate and post Graduate students who want to specialize and perform successfully well in competitive examinations like GATE, NET. The following topics are covered in phase II based on the syllabus followed in most of the Indian Universities. Already conduction under steady and unsteady state with and without internal heat generation including the finite and infinite body conduction have been covered in my Course Part I and Free convection, forced convection and Heat Exchangers been covered in my course Part II. RADIATION Introduction to Thermal Radiation - Radiation laws and Radiative properties - 4 classes Black Body and Gray body Radiation - Radiosity - View Factor Relations. - 4 classes Electrical Analogy. Radiation Shields. - 4 classes MASS TRANSFER Basic Concepts – Diffusion Mass Transfer – Fick’s Law of Diffusion – Steady state and Transient Diffusion. - 4 classes Stefan flow –Convective Mass Transfer. - 4 classes Momentum, Heat and Mass Transfer Analogy – Convective Mass Transfer Correlations. – 5 classes OUTCOMES: At the end of the course students will have full comfort and confidence in taking any examination related to Heat transfer due to conduction.
