HEAT AND MASS TRANSFER Part 1 (25 classes) Objective of this Tuition This tuition of Heat and Mass transfer is designed for Mechanical and Chemical Engineering undergraduate and post Graduate students who want to specialize and perform successfully well in competitive examinations like GATE, NET. The following topics are covered in phase I based on the syllabus followed in most of the Indian Universities. CONDUCTION Unit 1 (6 classes) General Differential equation - Cartesian, Cylindrical and Spherical Coordinates – One Dimensional Steady State Heat Conduction –– plane wall and Composite wall – overall heat transfer coefficient. Unit II (6 classes) Heat conduction though hollow and composite cylinders – Heat conduction through hollow and composite spheres. Unit III (6 classes) Heat Conduction with Internal Heat Generation – Plane wall with uniform heat generation Extended Surfaces- Heat flow thorough rectangular fin – infinitely long fin – insulated at the tip – fin losing heat at the tip. Unit IV (7 classes) Unsteady Heat Conduction having infinite thermal conductivity – Lumped parameter Analysis – Semi Infinite and Infinite Solids –Use of Heisler’s charts – Methods of enhanced the thermal conduction Courses cover many worked out problems in each topic. At the end of the course students will have full comfort and confidence in taking any examination related to Heat transfer due to conduction.
