Five kingdom classification. This class is help to students to understands the basic concept relates to this chapeter. In this class we learn, how organisms are classified in five groups by different criteria. This classification is given by R.H. Whittaker. He classified the organisms into five kingdome(the higher taxon) according the following crieteria. These are :-
1. Complexity of cell structure: - Prokaryotics and Eukaryotics
2. Complexity of body structure or structural organisation: - Unicellular and Multicellular
3. Mode of nutrition: - which is diverse in multicellular kingdom
4. Ecological lifestyles like producer, consumer, and decomposer
5. Phylogenetic relationship
On the basis of the above five criteria, he classifdied the whole organisms into five kingdoms these are;
1. Kingdom Monera (includes all prokaryotic unicellular organisms. Ex. Bacteria, Blue-green Algae etc.)
2. Kingdom Protista (includes all eukaryotic unicellular organisms. Ex. Diatoms, Euglena etc.)
3. Kingdom Fungi (includes all ecological decomposer. Ex. Agaricus, Yeast etc.)
4. Kingdom Plantae (includes all ecological producer. Ex. Plants)
5. Kingdom Animmalia (includes all ecological consumer. Ex. Animals)
