English Language and Communication Skills ( Age 5-9 years) is a comprehensive course is designed to act as a supplement for in-school English language curriculum, in helping students develop comfort and confidence in English Language and different aspects of communication including speaking and writing. Starting with phonics, grammar, reading & comprehension, through this course students would progressively develop higher order skills like public speaking story telling & creative writing.

This course includes 2 weekly classes of 60 mins each and covers FOUR broad modules : Reading and Comprehension, Grammar & Vocabulary, Writing skills and Speaking Skills.

What will be covered

Foundations : Identifying letters, consonants & vowels, syllables, rhyming, blending & segmenting, sounds, blends and digraphs, short & long vowels, diphthongs, two syllable words, sight words, open & closed syllables

Reading & comprehension : Understanding sequence, Inferences and analysis , understanding main idea & theme, setting and characters; analyzing purpose, cause and effect ; Comparing and contrasting texts and meaning ; Reading practice ( fiction, fantasy, history, science, nature, famous people, places, arts & tradition, business , technology & hobbies)

Vocabulary and Grammar

Vocabulary : Pre-fixes and suffixes ; compound words, categories, synonym-antonyms, homophones, multi-meaning words, contexts
Grammar : Sentences/fragments, nouns, pronouns, verbs, tense, articles, adjectives and adverbs, prepositions, contractions, punctuation, capitalization and abbreviations

Writing skills : Organizing , defining structure, linking words and sentences, defining purpose & theme, writing opinions, describing details, using sentence variety

Speaking Skills : Overcoming shyness, daily conversations and etiquettes, use of body language & voice, situational conversations, sharing opinions , critical thinking activities
