This class is designed for ICSE Class 10 students preparing for their biology board examinations, particularly those who want strong conceptual clarity and better answer-writing skills in the chapter on endocrine glands. It is ideal for students who find hormonal regulation confusing or struggle to differentiate between glands, hormones, and their specific functions. The session is especially helpful for students aiming to improve diagram-based answers, structured explanations, and exam-focused preparation.
In this class, students will learn about the major endocrine glands prescribed in the ICSE syllabus, including the pituitary gland, thyroid gland, pancreas (Islets of Langerhans), adrenal glands, and reproductive glands. We will cover the location of each gland, the hormones they secrete, and the specific functions of those hormones in the human body. Students will clearly understand conditions such as diabetes, goitre, dwarfism, gigantism, and the role of insulin and adrenaline. The class will also focus on feedback mechanisms and the difference between endocrine and exocrine glands, which is a commonly tested concept in board exams.
Special emphasis will be placed on drawing and labelling diagrams accurately, writing point-wise answers according to ICSE marking schemes, and understanding keywords that examiners look for. Students will practice board-style questions and learn how to frame precise, scoring answers rather than writing lengthy, unnecessary explanations.
Students are required to bring their ICSE Biology textbook, a notebook for structured notes, and basic stationery. A pencil and ruler are recommended for neat diagram practice.
By the end of the session, students will have a clear, confident understanding of endocrine regulation and will feel well-prepared to tackle board examination questions from this chapter.
