This Computer Science Foundations course is designed for Grade 9 students who want to understand computers beyond basic applications. Instead of simply learning software or memorizing definitions, students explore how computers work, how data is represented, how the internet functions, and how logical thinking helps solve real-world problems. The course introduces computational thinking, algorithms, flowcharts, binary numbers, computer hardware, operating systems, networking, cybersecurity basics, and responsible use of technology. Students also receive an introduction to programming concepts through interactive activities and logic-building exercises, preparing them for future coding languages such as Python and Java. The emphasis is on understanding concepts, developing analytical thinking, and building confidence in technology rather than rote learning. Through practical demonstrations, discussions, mini-projects, and problem-solving activities, students develop a strong foundation in Computer Science that supports both school academics and future careers in technology, engineering, artificial intelligence, and software development. No prior programming experience is required for this course.
