Build a strong foundation in English grammar from scratch and progress to the level required for standardized tests, placement examinations, and competitive English assessments. This course is designed for students who want to strengthen their grammar fundamentals, improve sentence accuracy, and develop confidence in using English.
The course covers essential grammar topics including parts of speech, nouns, pronouns, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, conjunctions, articles, determiners, sentence structure, phrases and clauses, subject-verb agreement, verb tenses, modifiers, pronoun agreement and reference, parallelism, comparisons, transitions, and sentence boundaries.
Students will also move into more advanced areas such as participles, gerunds and infinitives, conditionals, active and passive voice, direct and indirect speech, advanced modifiers, complex sentence structures, idiomatic usage, punctuation, and commonly tested grammatical errors.
The course is particularly useful for SAT, placement tests, campus recruitment and employability exams, and other competitive English examinations, where students are expected to identify subtle grammatical errors, improve sentences, and choose the most precise and effective construction.
The focus is not on memorizing rules mechanically. Students will understand why a construction is correct, recognize common traps, and apply grammar in unfamiliar contexts through examples, practice, and error analysis. No advanced grammar knowledge is required; the course starts from the basics and gradually builds toward advanced exam-level English.
