This class is designed for CBSE Class 10 students who want to master the Arithmetic Progressions chapter, also known as sequence and series. It is useful both for students learning the chapter for the first time and for those revising before pre-boards and board exams.
What students will learn:
- What a sequence is, and how to identify an Arithmetic Progression
- Common difference and finding the nth term (aₙ = a + (n−1)d)
- Finding a term from the end of an AP
- Sum of the first n terms (Sₙ = n/2 [2a + (n−1)d] and Sₙ = n/2 (a + l))
- Word problems based on real-life situations, such as savings, instalments and seating arrangements
- Important NCERT, exemplar and previous years’ board questions
- Common mistakes and step-marking tips for writing answers in the board exam
Each concept is explained from the basics, followed by solved examples and practice questions in class. Students will get short notes and a practice sheet after the session.
What to bring: a notebook, pen, pencil and the NCERT Class 10 Maths textbook. A stable internet connection is needed for the online class.
Prerequisites: basic algebra (solving linear equations) and arithmetic operations. No prior knowledge of AP is required.
