Dashboards look fancy but they're just websites that show changing data. In 2 hours, you'll build one that pulls live info from the internet and displays it nicely.
Hour 1 – Finding and Using APIs:
Most websites don't want you scraping their data. But many offer APIs – official ways to request data. We'll find a free API that interests you. Options:
-
Cricket live scores
-
Weather updates for any city
-
News headlines
-
Stock prices
-
NASA photos of the day
-
Movie details
I'll show you how to make requests, handle the data that comes back (usually JSON – like organized text), and pick out the parts you want to display.
Hour 2 – Building the Display:
Now we build a simple dashboard. Cards showing the data. Maybe a chart if we're feeling fancy. Auto-refresh every minute so it feels live.
We'll use HTML, CSS, and JavaScript – nothing complicated. I'll give you templates and explain each part as we go.
Who is this for? Beginners who want to build something that feels "real". Anyone tired of todo apps and calculator tutorials. You'll actually see live data changing on your screen.
What you'll leave with: A live dashboard showing real-time data. Check cricket scores without opening Cricbuzz. See weather without weather apps. And you built it yourself.
Bring laptop and pick a topic you're obsessed with.
