This Bharatanatyam class is designed for students of all age groups who are passionate about learning classical dance. Whether you are a complete beginner or someone with prior experience looking to refine your skills, this class is tailored to suit your level.
Students will learn the fundamentals of Bharatanatyam including basic adavus (steps), hand gestures (hasta mudras), facial expressions (navarasa abhinaya), and rhythm (talam). As the course progresses, students will be introduced to simple items from the margam (traditional Bharatanatyam sequence) such as Alarippu, Jatiswaram, and Shabdam.
The classes aim to instill discipline, improve posture, grace, and stage presence, while also teaching the cultural and spiritual significance of each movement.
Students are required to have a stable internet connection, wear a comfortable dance outfit (salwar or dance saree), and keep water nearby. A notebook for taking theory notes is also recommended. No prior experience or instruments are needed to begin.
