Clay modeling is a vast and versatile medium with a lot to explore, from preparing the clay to creating a finished object.
In this course, students will begin with the basics understanding the nature of clay, its raw form, and processes like wedging. They will also learn about important aspects such as clay composition, including iron content and the use of temper.
There are many processes involved in clay modeling, and the sessions will be tailored according to each student’s needs. A strong foundation will be provided for overall modeling skills, and as the course progresses, students can dive deeper into specific techniques and technical knowledge based on their interests.
Students will also be encouraged to experiment with their own creative ideas, forms, and concepts, and I will guide them throughout their process.
Materials required:
Clay (polymer clay or terracotta clay)
A notebook for sketching and notes (both can be maintained in the same notebook)
Further materials will be discussed in demo session
The sessions are designed to be interactive, where students actively practice along with the demonstrations, rather than just observing.
Looking forward to seeing you in class. Thank you.
