About the Course


The core histones, particularly H3 and H4, are reversibly acetylated at the epsillon-amino groups of lysines in the N-terminal ends. It has been postulated that core histone acetylation of may be involved in the process of transcriptional activation because acetylation of the lysine residues neutralizes their positive charge and would certainly reduce their net positive charges and would presumably reduce the interaction of the core histone tails with DNA
