My experience as a life scientist working on biochemistry and molecular genetics of protein and microbes has provided me with unique expertise that I believe would be distinctly valuable for your establishment.
Over the last 6 years of my doctoral research, I have studied microbial diversity by using next genome sequencing technology and studied their capability in producing the enzyme alkaline protease using sequence and functional-based analyses, with simultaneous cataloguing of microbial diversity in international indexing systems to preserve the information in public. I also have research experience in functional analysis of enzyme alkaline protease and its interaction with Ca-Hap nanoparticles to upregulate the enzyme activity in unfavorable environmental conditions. My experiments involve extensive usage of molecular, biochemical and biophysical techniques and analysis software. I have gained a thorough understanding of advanced Genomics and developed valuable troubleshooting skills.
I have strong expertise in microbial culture, transformation and maintenance with different molecular and latest biophysical techniques. I have utilized cutting edge technologies, biophysical techniques like Spectrophotometer, Spectrofluorometer and molecular biological techniques like PCR, Molecular cloning, DNA Sanger sequencer, Western Blotting, Silver Staining. I have basic knowledge of bioinformatics tools to analyze parallel DNA sequence data generated from the NGS platform.
In addition to the lab work, I recorded, calculated, and analyzed data, prepared reports and made presentations. I worked closely with a team of researchers and learned the value of good lab practice. I have published over 10 peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters and 6 of the recent work under review or in press. In addition to hands-on data collection and research experience, I can offer my knowledge of research methodology both in molecular biology and enzymology and bioinformatics aid me in coordinating all aspects of the research project and teaching process with responsibility in team efforts, appreciating works against deadlines.
I have a teaching experience of 9 years as Guest Lecturer in post graduate courses of M.Sc. Microbiology at Lady Brabourne College, under University of Calcutta, both graduates, post graduate students of Department of Biosciences, JIS University in the modules of molecular biology, microbial genetics, virology and biophysical chemistry and graduate students of nursing in RKMSP Ma Sarada College of Nursing under West Bengal University of Health Science in Biochemistry, clinical biochemistry. I have successfully trained masters as well as undergraduate students and supervised their short-term research projects.
In brief, I work well as a team member and a team leader. I would encourage strong collaboration and cross-talk between my team and related complimentary research groups that I believe would be highly beneficial for advancement of the establishment both in the field of R&D and profitability. I enjoy teaching. ‘Teaching’ for me is one of the best ways to interact with enthusiastic and innovative minds.
