Choosing a career as a childcare practitioner has been one of the best
decisions I have made. It is a demanding job to balance the need of each and
every child in the classroom; moreover that of parents, however working
with children of different age groups ranging from two years to five years has
strengthened my ability to be more patient and responsible.
Working in a small setting has helped me to closely observe children and
understand that every child has a unique learning pattern and interest. A
good early year’s teacher and parents together as a team can help build a
strong foundation and confidence to shape up the personality of a young
mind. On my work journey I discovered my ability to identify children with learning
difficulties and chalk out an effective educational plan which helped them to
work to the best of their abilities and eventually meet their classroom’s pace.
My confidence and interest kept developing when I got feedbacks from
parents who told me how their children have developed confidence and have
started socializing and expressing their views without shying and with ease.
Being a mother of a 5 year old and my love for nurturing young minds has
always inspired me to read books to advance my understanding and
knowledge in childcare. Developmental theories by the famous child
psychologist Jean Piaget have helped me a lot through my journey of being a
good teacher. Reading authentic work in child psychology keeps my
cerebrum stimulated. I recently read “No Bad Kids” and “Elevating Childcare”
by Janet Lansbury. However, “The Whole Brain Child” by Dr.Daniel J.Siegel
and Dr.Tina Payne Bryson is the most interesting and intriguing book I am
reading right now which focuses on strategies to nurture young minds.
Designing and Conducting “Language and Life skills” workshops for children
of age group 3-6 years during summer holidays has helped me to learn to
work efficiently under pressure.
The valuable skill set I have developed being
an entrepreneur is perseverance, endeavor to achieve my goals and the
spirit to never give up.
I am always open to learning; therefore I have recently completed 'Jolly Phonics' certification and currently giving classes online. My classes are interactive, engaging and result oriented.
