Here is what you need to learn for Chapter 5- Surface Chemistry

5.2. This section introduces the concept of Adsorption, which includes its mechanism, types of Adsorption, and the various factors which affect Adsorption.

5.3. In this portion, we discuss the Freundlich Adsorption Isotherm concept and its limitations. This study can be understood by studying the examples that have been demonstrated in the exercise.

5.4. Here we study about how Langmuir derived a new isotherm which was based on the kinetic theory of gases.

5.5. This section of the chapter explains how Adsorption occurs from solutions. It also describes how Freundlich adsorption isotherm theory could be applied to a liquid system. The applications of this Adsorption is also given here.

5.6. In this part, the term Catalysis has been defined, the two types of catalysis have been mentioned.

5.7. After discussing the definition of catalysis, we further move on to the nature of solid catalysis and its characteristics which are: Activity and Selectivity.

5.8. In this portion the Shape-Selective Catalysis by Zeolite has been explained thoroughly with examples and the Adsorption Theory of Heterogeneous Catalysis is also given here.

5.9. Here we discuss what Enzyme Catalysis is, its various mechanisms, its characteristics, and how catalysis is used in the Industry.

5.10. Colloids is a heterogeneous system in which one phase is known as the dispersing phase which has very fine particles suspended in the dispersion medium. We discuss the various types of colloids and how they are classified.

5.11. For this section of surface chemistry, you will learn about the various methods that can be used to prepare colloidal-Sol.

5.12. In this section, you will learn that impurities in Sols are prepared by different methods, and these impurities can make the Sol unstable. Thus it is necessary to learn the methods of purifications.

5.13. Here you will learn the four essential properties of colloidal solution-sol.

5.14. For this section, the coagulation of colloids is discussed and the two important laws that are important for this.

5.15. The two types of emulsions are discussed in this portion of the chapter, along with the test and preparation of emulsion and demulsification.

5.16. For the last section, the various uses of colloids in our everyday life and industry are discussed.

Class 12 Chemistry Chapter 5 NCERT Solution has discussed this chapter thoroughly with the help of examples. This NCERT solution will help you ace your CBSE board examinations. Chapter 5 of Chemistry is also available in Surface Chemistry NCERT PDF format.
