The "B" in the pencil's grade stands for "black" and indicates that the pencil has a soft lead with a high graphite content. B pencils are softer and have more graphite than other types of pencils, so they leave more graphite on the page and tend to get blunt quickly. This results in darker drawings or sketches, and you don't need to press very hard to leave a mark. read less

8B pencil is used to get thicker lines and textures..it is way darker than other pencil grades , This pencil can be used to draw dark parts of sketches .. specially shadowed areas, background , eye ball, hair etc..
