Why do deadlocks happen in the SQL Server?

Deadlocks in SQL Server occur when two or more transactions block each other by holding locks on resources that the other transactions need, causing a cycle of dependencies. SQL Server detects and resolves deadlocks by killing one of the transactions.

Deadlocks occur in SQL Server when two or more transactions block each other by holding locks on resources that the other transactions need to complete. This creates a circular dependency, where each transaction is waiting for the other to release a lock, resulting in a standstill. Deadlocks typically happen in highly concurrent environments with complex queries or transactions.
