A beginner should first understand what's meant by music production. Secondly there are plenty of software out there. Some of them comes with the audio interface it self. For beginners I would suggest Audacity.

Pro tools for mixing and mastering. And for music production it depends on you what you prefer because there no such thing as the best software. i use Logic Pro X and Ableton Live. and both have there advantages both are great DAWs.
