"I am fortunate to find a guru like Gayatri Miss, who not only teaches Bharatnatyam, but also teaches and discuss all aspects of life more as a friend. This results in improving my self confidence, thereby helping me to face challenges ahead. During these period ,I became very close to my Guru and understood that she is God’s gift for me and best things happened in my life till date. She and my parents made every dream, every thought of mine a reality and have made my life wonderful. The bond between me and my Guru blossomed and become very strong filled with love, care and understanding."

"“Dance is an obsession, an addiction (a good addiction of course). If you once get into it, it’s very difficult to leave it.”… As a toddler I was always told by my mother that dance for me should be an offering to the Almighty, and following those words she had told then, I have come so close to this beautiful, divine art form."

"For a dancer, A guru is one of the most important elements in her life. She shapes the dancer, moulding her, encouraging her to dance her way through life !! My Guru Smt. Gayatri Subramanium has been a strong pillar for me, strenthening me when I'm weak, correcting my every mistake, gladly accepting me for being "me"."

"when I started to learn dance at the age of 3, I did not know that I would be associated with this art through all my growing years. Besides my parents, I owe my guru Smt. Gayatri Subramanian for whatever I have learnt and achieved in Bharatanatyam. She has not only taught me to dance, but has also taught me how to live. More than a teacher, she has been a mother to me."

About us

Bharatanatyam has many dimensions. They include body movements, facial expressions, hand gestures, footwork, costumes, music, repertoire, and themes of performances. Because Bharatanatyam is so well developed, all of these aspects of the art have been codified, and are documented in ancient scriptures as well as recent books. Our description of Bharatanatyam is intended for a spectator, and one who is relatively unfamiliar with the dance, as opposed to a dance student, professional, or scholar.
