Teaching Experience in detail in Vocal Music classes

With over 12 years of experience as a dedicated vocal music educator, I have had the privilege of teaching and inspiring students in both Indian classical and Western vocal traditions. Currently in my third year at Furtados School of Music, I serve as a vocal music teacher at C.P. Goenka International School in Mumbai. My role involves not only classroom instruction but also preparing students for performances, assessments, and cultivating a deep appreciation for music. My foundation lies in Indian classical music, which I have studied and taught extensively. My teaching approach is rooted in traditional guru-shishya methods, adapted to modern classroom settings. I focus on voice culture, swara training, raag development, and taal understanding, helping students build strong fundamentals. I have been fortunate to be recognized for my work, having received the second prize from the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi, which stands as a testament to my commitment and skill in the field. In addition to classical training, I have also developed expertise in Western vocal music over the past four years. This includes training students in contemporary vocal techniques, harmony, ear training, and performance skills. I integrate music theory and vocal warm-ups with expressive singing to support a well-rounded learning experience. My students have successfully appeared for various vocal music assessments and participated in school concerts and inter-school competitions with confidence and skill. Previously, I also worked with Cambridge International where I gained experience in handling a diverse curriculum, adapting teaching styles to suit international standards and learners with varied musical backgrounds. My teaching philosophy centers on nurturing each student’s unique voice and helping them gain confidence both on stage and in personal expression. I aim to make learning music a joyful and enriching experience, blending discipline with creativity. Whether guiding a beginner or mentoring an advanced learner, I believe in unlocking every student’s musical potential through patience, dedication, and passion.
